Brake Pedal Assy: Service and Repair
Brake Pedal-to-Brake Booster Push Rod Clevis:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Cotter pin and clevis pin from brake booster pushrod and remove pushrod clevis from brake pedal.
Brake Pedal Assembly:
2. Brake pedal shaft bolt and nut.
3. Slide brake pedal pivot shaft bolt out and remove brake pedal from vehicle. Note location of brake pedal return spring before removal.
4. Brake pedal return spring from brake pedal.
5. Two brake pedal bushings from brake pedal
6. Brake pedal spacer from brake pedal.
7. Brake pedal pad from brake pedal.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Brake pedal pad to brake pedal.
2. Lubricate brake pedal spacer, bushings and pivot shaft bolt with chassis lubricant GM P/N 1052497, or equivalent.
3. Brake pedal spacer to brake pedal.
4. Two brake pedal bushings to brake pedal.
5. Brake pedal return spring to brake pedal.
6. Brake pedal to vehicle.
7. Slide brake pedal pivot shaft bolt through brake pedal pivot shaft, secure with one nut. Do not tighten fully.
8. Brake pedal to brake booster push rod clevis, secure with clevis pin and cotter pin.
^ Tighten brake pedal pivot shaft bolt nut to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
