Scan Tool Capabilities
SCAN TOOLA Tech 2, or equivalent scan tool, when plugged into the Data Link Connector (DLC), becomes part of the vehicle's electronic system. The scan tool can perform the following functions:
^ Display and clear ABS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
^ Display ABS data.
^ Control ABS components.
^ Provide diagnostic testing for intermittent ABS conditions. Each test mode has specific diagnosis capabilities which depend upon the type of scan tool used. When using a scan tool, there are four main selections for diagnosing the ABS:
Diagnostic Trouble Codes - DTCs stored by the EBCM, both current drive cycle and history data, may be displayed or cleared.
Data Display - The scan tool continuously monitors wheel speed data, stoplamp switch status and other inputs and outputs.
Snapshot - The scan tool captures data before and after a system malfunction.
Special Functions - The scan tool performs various functional tests to assist in problem isolation during troubleshooting.
