Table D ABS Active Indicator Inoperative
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTIONThe ABS ACTIVE indicator lamp is connected to the IG-COIL METER fuse through CKT 8B01. This circuit is hot in the ON and START ignition switch positions. The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) turns ON the ABS ACTIVE by grounding CKT 9W01 and CKT 6C01. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the EBCM turns ON the ABS ACTIVE indicator for 3 seconds for a bulb check. Whenever the vehicle is involved in an ABS event, the EBCM tuns ON the ABS ACTIVE indicator for the duration of the event (and 1-2 seconds after the event), notifying the driver that ABS is in operation.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following list contains items that need to be inspected when diagnosing this system:
^ Open IG-COIL METER fuse.
^ Open bulb filament.
^ Open CKT 9W01 and/or CKT 6C01.
^ Open within Instrument Panel (I/P) gage printed circuit.
^ Faulty EBCM.
Inspect The Following Harness Connectors For - backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wiring connections or physical damage to the wiring harness before component replacement:
^ EBCM connector C1.
^ I/P cluster C3.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
[3] Checks the ABS ACTIVE circuit and bulb.
[5] Checks for power to the I/P gage cluster.
[6] Checks the integrity of the indicator control circuit.
[7] Checks the ability of the EBCM to control the ABS ACTIVE lamp when commanded by a Tech 2 scan tool.
[17] Checks for proper indicator operation.
