Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Release the parking brake.
2. Disable the parking brake cable adjuster, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




4. Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) hole through the dimple in the intermediate parking brake cable connector where the front parking brake cable (1) is connected.
5. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the intermediate parking brake cable.




6. Release the front park brake cable conduit (1) from the frame by compressing the locking tabs.
7. Route the front parking brake cable out of the body mount bracket on the frame.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Remove the left side body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
10. Remove the left side instrument panel electrical center/junction block. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side.
11. Carefully position aside the front floor carpet to expose the front park brake cable pass-through grommet.




12. Release the front park brake cable pass-through grommet (1) from the floor panel.
13. Disconnect the park brake indicator switch electrical connector.
14. Remove the parking brake release handle, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement.




15. Remove the parking brake lever pedal nuts (1).
16. Pull the front park brake cable through the floor panel and remove the parking brake lever pedal and front cable assembly.

Installation Procedure

1. Feed the front park brake cable through the floor panel and install the parking brake lever pedal and front cable assembly.




2. Install the parking brake lever pedal assembly to the studs on the hinge pillar panel.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the parking brake lever pedal nuts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Connect the park brake indicator switch electrical connector.
5. Install the parking brake release handle, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement.




6. Install the front park brake cable pass-through grommet (1) to the floor panel.
7. Ensure the pass-through grommet is fully seated in the floor panel.
8. Carefully position the front floor carpet to the floor panel.
9. Install the left side instrument panel electrical center/junction block. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side.
10. Install the left side body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement.
11. Raise and support the vehicle.




12. Install the front park brake cable to the frame.
13. Ensure the front park brake cable conduit (1) locking tabs are fully engaged in the frame.




14. Connect the front park brake cable (1) to the intermediate cable connector.
15. Lower the vehicle.
16. Enable the parking brake cable adjuster, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling.
17. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Drum Brake) Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Disc Brake) Parking Brake Adjustment (2500/3500 SRW) Parking Brake Adjustment (3500 DRW) .
