Parking Brake Cable Equalizer Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Release the park brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




3. Remove the parking brake equalizer adjuster nut (1).




4. Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) hole through the dimple in the right parking brake cable connector (1) where the front parking brake cable is connected.
5. Pull the parking brake equalizer forward and disconnect the right parking brake cable connector from the intermediate parking brake cable.
6. Compress the locking tabs on the right parking brake cable conduit (2) and remove the parking brake cable from the equalizer.
7. Remove the parking brake cable equalizer.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the parking brake cable equalizer to the right rear parking brake cable.




2. Pull the parking brake equalizer forward and install the right parking brake cable connector (1) to the intermediate parking brake cable.
3. Compress the locking tabs on the right parking brake cable conduit (2) and install the parking brake cable to the equalizer.




4. Loosely install the parking brake equalizer adjuster nut (1).
5. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Drum Brake) Parking Brake Adjustment (1500 Disc Brake) Parking Brake Adjustment (2500/3500 SRW) Parking Brake Adjustment (3500 DRW) .
