Flex Plate: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
3. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the starter from the vehicle. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
5. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
6. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the flywheel bolts to the crankshaft.
^ Tighten the bolts to 90 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the transmission to the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Install the starter to the engine block. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement.
5. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
6. Install the engine cover to the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
7. Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
