Side Air Bag: Description and Operation

SEAT SIDE AIR BAG

Driver and passenger side air bags are attached to the seat backrest frame. For diagnostic information, refer to Air Bag Systems.

Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats with seat side air bags cannot be repaired. The front seat backrest trim covers are to be installed new. Cleaning is permissible.

If a seat side air bag deployment took place, a new seat backrest foam pad, trim cover and seat side air bag module must be installed. Install a new seat backrest frame, if necessary.
