WATER LEAK THROUGH POLLEN FILTER CASE -
INOPERATIVE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM BLOWER
MOTOR - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/28/2013

ISSUE
Some 2012-2013 Transit Connect vehicles built on or before 2/28/2013 may exhibit a water leak into the passenger compartment foot well through the climate control system floor ducts and/or the heater core and evaporator core housing. In addition, some vehicles may exhibit an inoperative climate control system blower motor.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect for evidence of water leaking into the passenger compartment foot well through the climate control system floor ducts and/or the heater core and evaporator core housing. Is evidence of water present?
a. Yes - the pollen filter case base gasket needs to be sealed. Proceed to step 2.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section (WSM) 501-00.
2. Remove the upper and lower cowl grill panels to gain access to the pollen filter. Refer to WSM, Section 501-2.
3. Remove the pollen filter case.
4. Apply Motorcraft(R) Seam Sealer on case gasket. (Figure 1)
5. Install pollen filter case.
6. Install the upper and lower cowl grill panels. Refer to WSM, Section 501-02
a. Ensure that the lower cowl grill fully seats on the seal under the hood.
7. Dry the carpet and other interior trim as necessary.
8. Is the climate control system blower motor inoperative?
a. Yes - check and replace fuse F13 in the battery junction box.
b. No - no further action required.
