Pinpoint Test AD: The Customer Access Power Supply Is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 140, Customer Access for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams
Normal Operation
The Battery Junction Box (BJB) supplies voltage at all times to the customer access block connector.
The Central Junction Box (CJB) supplies voltage to the customer access block connector when the ignition is in RUN or START.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Customer-installed components or circuitry
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
PINPOINT TEST AD : THE CUSTOMER ACCESS POWER SUPPLY IS INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
AD1 CHECK THE CUSTOMER ACCESS BLOCK CONNECTOR HOT AT ALL TIME CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Customer Access Block Connector C3509.
- Measure the voltage between the customer access block connector C3509-4, circuit 30-NC12 (RD), harness side and ground; and between the customer access block connector C3509-6, circuit 30-NC12 (RD), harness side and ground.
Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AD2.
No
VERIFY the BJB (Battery Junction Box) fuse 3 (50A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Electrical Diagrams
AD2 CHECK THE CUSTOMER ACCESS BLOCK CONNECTOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the voltage between the customer access block connector C3509-6, circuit 30-NC12 (RD), harness side and the customer access block connector C3509-10, circuit 31-LG12 (BK), harness side.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to AD3.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
AD3 CHECK THE CUSTOMER ACCESS BLOCK CONNECTOR HOT IN RUN CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the customer access block connector, harness side and ground as follows:
Connector-Pin Circuit C3509-7 14-NC12 (VT/YE) C3509-8 14-NC12 (VT/YE) C3509-12 30S-FA73 (RD/BU)
Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes
The vehicle is operating correctly. The concern is with the customer installed components or circuitry.
No
VERIFY the CJB (Central Junction Box) fuses 139 (20A), 144 (10A) and 149 (10A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. Electrical Diagrams
