EXCESSIVE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN DRIVER TO PASSENGER INSTRUMENT
PANEL VENTS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/2/2012

FORD:
2012 F-Super Duty

ISSUE
Some 2012 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) or Electronic Manual Temperature Control (EMTC) and built between 10/17/2011 through 10/23/2011 and 1/22/2012 through 2/2/2012 may exhibit an excessive passenger to driver side to side temperature differences at the instrument panel vents. This may be caused by the blend door(s) not closing to the full stop position in the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) case assembly.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Determine the vehicle build date. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-01. Is the vehicle built between 10/17/2011 through 10/23/2011 and 1/22/2012 through 2/2/2012?

a. Yes - proceed to Step 2.

b. No - this article is not applicable, refer to the WSM, Section 412-00 for normal diagnostics.





2. Determine HVAC case molding manufacturing code. HVAC molding code is located on the HVAC lower cover portion and can be viewed by looking under the HVAC case, below the passenger side glove box. Is the HVAC case molding manufacturing code CAV2? (Figure 1)

a. Yes - proceed to Step 3.

b. No - this article is not applicable, refer to WSM, Section 412-00 for normal diagnostics.





3. Replace the HVAC case assembly. This article is only applicable to address the HVAC case blend door function. Refer to WSM, Section 412-00 for removal and installation of the HVAC case.
