Radiator: Service and Repair




Radiator

Removal and Installation

All vehicles

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Remove the 3 lower air deflector pushpins from the radiator.

Vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine

3. Remove the cooling fan and the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to Cooling Fan Shroud- 6.2L .

Vehicles equipped with a 6.8L engine

4. Remove the cooling fan. For additional information, refer to Cooling Fan- 6.8L .

5. Remove the cooling fan shroud. For additional information, refer to Cooling Fan Shroud- 6.8L .

All vehicles

6. Remove the grille.

7. Remove the 2 bolts and position the A/C condenser aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

8. Remove the 2 bolts and position the transmission fluid cooler aside.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

9. Release the clamp and disconnect the radiator overflow hose from the radiator.

10. Remove the spring clip and disconnect lower radiator hose from the radiator.
- To install, install the spring clip and connect the lower radiator hose to the radiator, making sure the lower radiator hose is secure.


11. Remove the 3 RH air deflector pushpins from the radiator.

12. NOTICE: Failure to plug the openings for the transmission cooler hoses may result in siphoning of the transmission fluid, and may damage the transmission if the transmission fluid is not checked and filled as required.

Release the clamps and disconnect the 2 transmission fluid cooler hoses from the radiator.


13. Remove the spring clip and disconnect the upper radiator hose.
- To install, install the spring clip and connect the upper radiator hose to the radiator, making sure the upper radiator hose is secure.


14. Remove the LH air deflector pushpin from the radiator.

15. Detach the power steering fluid cooler-to-power steering fluid reservoir hose retainer from the radiator.

16. Detach the power steering gear-to-power steering fluid cooler hose retainer from the radiator.

17. Remove the 4 bolts and the radiator.
- To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).


18. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
