Installation

1. Install the 5 transaxle-to-engine bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).






2. Install the 2 engine-to-transaxle bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).






3. Using 300-OTC1819E and 303-D089 (D93P-6001-A3) , position the engine and transaxle onto 300-OTC1585AE table.





4. NOTE: Position a block of wood under the transaxle.
Install the 014-00001.

5. Attach the 2 EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness retainers to the transaxle stud bolts.

6. Attach the transaxle control wire harness retainer to the transaxle stud bolt.






7. Connect the transaxle control electrical connector.






8. Remove 303-1245 from the LH (Left Hand) cylinder head.

9. Install the starter, the stud bolt and bolt.
- Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).





10. Attach the starter wire terminals and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten the B+ terminal nut to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Tighten the S-terminal nut to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).





11. Install the starter motor solenoid cover.

12. Raise the engine and transaxle assembly into the vehicle.

13. Install the engine mount, the 3 bolts and the 4 engine mount nuts hand tight.





14. Tighten the 3 engine mount bolts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

15. Tighten the 4 engine mount nuts.
- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).

16. Install the transaxle support insulator bracket, the 3 nuts and the bolt.
- Tighten the bolt to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
- Tighten the nuts to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).





17. Install the transaxle support insulator through bolt and nut.
- Tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).





18. Install the 4 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).





19. Install 3 new torque converter bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





20. Install the inspection cover and the 2 fasteners.






21. Connect the transaxle cooler tubes and install the 2 secondary latches.






22. If equipped, connect the oil cooler coolant hoses.





23. Install the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft support bracket and the bolt and stud bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





24. Install the 2 halfshaft support bracket studs.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).





25. Using a new gasket, install the RH (Right Hand) catalytic converter and 4 new nuts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).





26. Connect the RH (Right Hand) CMS (Catalyst Monitor Sensor) electrical connector.






27. NOTICE: The circlips are unique in size and shape for each shaft. Make sure to use the specified circlip for the application or vehicle damage may occur.

Install the correct new circlip on the inboard stub shaft.






28. NOTE: After insertion, pull the halfshaft inner end to make sure the circlip is locked.
Push the stub shaft into the transmission so the circlip locks into the differential side gear.

29. Rotate the LH (Left Hand) wheel knuckle into position and insert the LH (Left Hand) halfshaft into the wheel hub.

30. Install the intermediate and halfshaft assembly and the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).





31. Rotate the RH (Right Hand) wheel knuckle into position and insert the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft into the wheel hub.

32. Using 300-OTC1585AE , raise the subframe into the installed position.






33. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Install the 2 front subframe bolts.
- Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).





34. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Position the subframe brackets and install the 4 bolts finger-tight.






35. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Install the 2 rear subframe bolts.
- Tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





36. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Finish tightening the subframe bracket-to-body bolts.
- Tighten the 4 subframe bracket-to-body bolts to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).





37. Attach the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness pin-type retainer to the steering gear.





38. Connect the 2 EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) electrical connectors.





39. Position the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) wiring harness bracket and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





40. Position the EPAS (Electronic Power Assist Steering) heat shield and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





41. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Position the ball joints into the wheel knuckles. Install the new ball joint nuts.
- Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).





42. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while installing the nuts.

NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Install new tie-rod end nuts.
- Tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





43. NOTE: RH (Right Hand) shown, LH (Left Hand) similar.
Install new upper stabilizer bar link nuts.
- Tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





44. NOTICE: Do not rotate the roll restrictor with the subframe bolt tight. This may damage the insulator assembly.

Install the 2 rear engine roll restrictor-to-transaxle bolts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).





45. If equipped, attach the oil cooler hose support clip to the subframe.





46. NOTE: Do not lubricate the engine oil filter gasket.
Install a new engine oil filter.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) and then rotate an additional 180 degrees.





47. Install the exhaust Y-pipe. REFER to Exhaust Y-Pipe .

48. NOTICE: Do not allow the intermediate shaft to rotate while it is disconnected from the gear or damage to the clockspring may occur. If there is evidence that the intermediate shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. REFER to Clockspring .

Install the steering intermediate shaft onto the steering gear and install a new bolt.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).





49. Install the underbody air duct and the 3 twist lock retainers.
