Removal and Installation
WARNING: Do not smoke, carry lighted tobacco or have an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

WARNING: Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Battery Disconnect.
2. Release the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness pushpins from the fuel rail and position the wiring harness aside.
5. Disconnect the fuel supply tube spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to Fuel System - General Information Spring Lock Couplings.
6. NOTE: Remove the fuel rail and the fuel injectors as an assembly.
Remove the 2 bolts and the fuel rail and injector assembly.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
7. Remove the retaining clips and separate the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.
- Discard the fuel injector O-ring seals.
8. NOTICE: Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistance material. The use of ordinary O-ring seals may cause the fuel system to leak.
NOTICE: Do not reuse the O-ring seals. The reuse of the O-ring seals may cause the fuel system to leak.
NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals onto the fuel injectors.
