Coolant Outlet Pipe - 2.3L, Rear
Removal and Installation
1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 2.3L Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.
2. Remove the front coolant outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Coolant Outlet Pipe - 2.3L, Front Coolant Outlet Pipe, Front.
3. Remove the transmission. For additional information, refer to Automatic Transmission - 5R44E and 5R55E Removal and Replacement for automatic transmissions or Manual Transaxle/Transmission Manual Transmission for manual transmissions.
4. NOTICE: Use a block of wood to protect the oil pan, or the oil pan may be damaged.
Support the engine with an appropriate jack stand.
5. Disconnect the coolant bypass hose from the rear coolant outlet pipe.
6. Remove the bolts, the rear coolant outlet pipe and the gasket.
- Discard the gasket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
7. NOTE: Clean the gasket mating surfaces and install a new gasket.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
