Exploded View












Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points Service and Repair.

2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner) assembly. REFER to Intake Air System Components - Exploded View [1][2]Diagrams.

3. Loosen the 2 transmission mounted transmission fluid cooler tube nuts from the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve.
- To install, torque: 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).





4. Disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes at the transmission fluid cooler.





5. Remove the 2 nuts, the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve and the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the vehicle.
- To install, torque: 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





6. Remove the secondary latches.





7. Using 307-569, disconnect the transmission return and inlet cooler tubes from the transmission fluid thermal bypass valve.





8. Remove the thermal bypass valve bolt and the thermal bypass valve.
- To install, torque: 12 Nm (106 lb-in).





Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Check the Motorcraft(R) MERCON(R) LV Automatic Transmission Fluid level and add Motorcraft(R) MERCON(R) LV Automatic Transmission Fluid as necessary.
