Pinpoint Test L: DTC U0114

Normal Operation
- DTC U0114 (Lost Communication With Four-Wheel Drive Clutch Control Module [4x4CM]) - sets in continuous memory if data messages received from the 4X4 control module over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing for greater than 5 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- 4X4 control module
- Instrument Cluster (IC)

PINPOINT TEST L: DTC U0114

L1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN


- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to L2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

L2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK


- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the 4X4 control module pass the network test?

Yes
GO to L3.

No
REFER to Module Communications Network Testing and Inspection.

L3 RECHECK THE ABS MODULE DTCs


- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the ABS module self-test.
- Is DTC U0114 still present?

Yes
GO to L5.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic.

L4 CHECK FOR DTC U0102 OR U0114 SET IN OTHER MODULES


- Clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Retrieve All CMDTCs.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC U0102 set in the PCM or IC?

Yes
INSTALL a new 4X4 control module. REFER to Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Systems . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrumentation, Message Center, and Warning Chimes Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
