INSTALLATION
Transmission





Special Tool(s)

1. Using the special tool, raise and position the transmission.





2. Install the six engine-to-transmission bolts.





3. Install the two engine oil pan-to-transmission bolts.








4. Raise the transmission, then install the muffler and tail pipe into the exhaust hanger insulators.





5. Install the transmission mount and exhaust bracket.
1 Position the transmission mount.
2 Install the bolts.





6. Install the nut.





7. Install the crossmember.
1 Position the crossmember.
2 Install the bolts.





8. Install the transmission mount bolts.





9. Install the two heat shield bolts to the crossmember.
10. Remove the transmission support from the transmission.





11. Connect the clutch hydraulic line.

Four wheel drive vehicles
12. Connect the transfer case shift lever and install the bolt.
13. Install the transfer case.
14. Install the torsion bars and the torsion bar crossmember.

15. NOTE: Align the index marks made during removal.

Install the front driveshaft.
16. Install the transfer case heat shield.
17. Install the skid plate.

All vehicles

18. NOTE: Align the index marks made during removal.

Install the rear driveshaft.
19. Install the starter.
20. Connect the wiring harness to the transmission, the transfer case (if equipped) and the Heated Oxygen Sensors (H02S).
21. Install the fuel line bracket.





22. Install the lower gearshift lever.
23. Install the lower gearshift lever boot.





24. Install the upper gearshift lever.
25. Install the upper gearshift lever boot.
26. Connect the battery ground cable.
27. If the transmission was disassembled, refill with transmission fluid.
28. Check the vehicle ride height. Adjust as necessary.
