Fuel Return Line: Service and Repair

Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool:

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Perform the pressure relief - fuel line venting procedure.







2. Disconnect the low-pressure fuel and the fuel pressure regulator coolant lines.
1 Pinch off the coolant lines 76 mm (3 inches) from the fuel pressure regulator.
2 Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator coolant lines.
3 Disconnect the low-pressure fuel line from the fuel pressure regulator.







3. Remove the fuel line clamp bolt.







4. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator coolant lines.







5. Remove the fuel line tether clamp.







6. Using the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool, disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel injection supply manifold.







7. Remove and discard the two fuel line O-rings.

INSTALLATION












1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

NOTE:
^ Replace the fuel line O-ring seals.
^ Lubricate the fuel line O-ring seals with 5W-30 engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G or equivalent prior to installation, to help seal and ease the installation.
^ When tightening the fuel lines, a torque wrench adapter must be used with the torque wrench. The use of a torque wrench adapter will alter the effective torque of the torque wrench being used. To correct the effective torque, a torque multiplication conversion must be used.
