Upper Intake Manifold

Removal and Installation
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the engine cover.





3. Unclip the accelerator cable and speed control cable, if equipped.





4. Remove the clip push pin and remove the accelerator control splash shield.
- Discard the clip push pin.





5. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector.





6. Remove the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve assembly.





7. Disconnect the following at the throttle body
- accelerator cable
- speed control actuator cable (if so equipped)





8. Disconnect the accelerator cable and speed control actuator cable, if equipped, from the cable bracket.





9. Disconnect the spark plug wire holders.





10. Remove the 12 bolts and the upper intake manifold.





11. NOTE: Install a new accelerator control splash shield clip push pin.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Inspect the intake manifold upper gasket. Install a new gasket, if necessary.





12. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
