Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Removal1. WARNING: The electrical circuit necessary for the air bag system deployment is powered directly from the battery and a backup power supply. To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the battery positive cable must be disconnected for a minimum of one minute to de-energize the backup prior to removing any of the air bag system components.
Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
3. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.
4. Remove the transmission range selector lever boot.
5. Remove the selector lever pin.
6. Remove the selector lever and the clip.
Installation
1. Position the clip and the selector lever.
2. Note: Install a new selector lever pin whenever removed.
Install the selector lever pin.
3. Install the selector lever boot.
4. Connect the transmission control switch connector.
5. Install the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
6. Connect the battery.
