Disassembly and Assembly

Special Tools:

Disassembly

CAUTION: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the components removed for location.

1. Remove the spark plugs, if necessary.





2. Using the special tool, compress the valve springs.





3. Remove the following:
1 The valve spring retainer key.
2 The valve spring retainers.
3 The valve springs.
4 Discard the valve stem seals.
5 The valve spring seat and valves.
4. Inspect the components, if necessary.

Assembly
1. CAUTION: Lubricate the parts with Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G before installing.

To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
