Radiator: Service and Repair

Removal

CAUTION: Do not use Extended Life Engine Coolant F6AZ-19544-AA meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B44-D.

CAUTION: Do not mix Standard (green) Coolant with Extended Life Coolant (orange).

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.





3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.





4. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the harness.





5. Disconnect the overflow hose from the radiator.





6. Note: A/C condenser must be secured.

Tie the A/C condenser to the upper radiator support.
7. Raise and support the vehicle.





8. Remove the five screws to access the A/C condenser bolts.





9. Remove the bolts from the A/C condenser.





10. Remove the bolt and position the A/C muffler bracket out of the way.





11. Disconnect the lower radiator hose and the degas bottle supply hose from the radiator.





12. Using special tool 310-040 (T90T-9550-B), disconnect the transmission cooler tubes from the transmission.





13. Unclip the transmission cooler tubes from the lower radiator support.





14. Disconnect the auxiliary cooler tubes.





15. Remove the four bolts and the radiator support.





16. Remove the radiator, fan and the shroud assembly.





17. Remove the radiator guide pins.





18. Remove the bolts the fan and the shroud assembly from the radiator.





19. Disconnect the transmission tubes from the radiator.

Installation








1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
