Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation1. Pull out on the bottom of the boot to disengage it from the plastic retainer.
2. If necessary, pull the control handle upward.
3. CAUTION: The control boot is held in position by a small plastic retaining tab that engages a notch in the control handle. Failure to use care when removing the boot can result in damage to the tab and unnecessary replacement of the boot.
Using a small screwdriver, carefully lift the retainer tab and-slide the boot upward.
4. Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch connector.
5. Using a screwdriver, push down on the tension arm until it is fully depressed.
6. Lock down the tension arm with a pin or screwdriver.
7. Remove the cable anchor pin.
8. Remove the control bolts and remove the parking brake control.
9. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
