ISSUE
On some vehicles, the power sliding door may not react to a closing command from any of the power sliding door switches or the remote key fob. Additionally, when attempting to close the door by pulling on the outside handle or pushing from the rear edge of the door, the door will resist the forward movement and will reverse back to the full open position. Relay contacts internal to the power sliding door controller are improperly plated and can build up an oxide which results in an intermittent open circuit condition. The relays are not separately serviceable. Minor vibration of the power sliding door unit may temporarily shift the contact point and contribute to the intermittent condition. Frequent use of the power sliding door may clean the contact and prevent the oxide buildup.

ACTION
Replace the affected power sliding door controller.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

For customers who experience the intermittent condition, replace the affected Power Sliding Door Controllers, XF2Z-14B291-AA (RH) or XF2Z-14B291-BA (LH) as appropriate. Customers who experience the condition can close the doors manually by turning off the power sliding door at the overhead console switch. The power sliding door controllers have a five-digit date code on the white sticker which has the part number on it. Parts which are date-coded "42329" or later are not suspect. The second through fourth digits "232", refer to the day of the year (Julian date), the fifth digit is the year produced, "9" = 1999 and "0" = 2000. Comments for any claims submitted as a result of this symptom are as follows: RH/LH door will not close from full open position. Refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual Section for replacement procedure.
