Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Recover the refrigerant.







2. Disconnect the A/C cycling switch connector.







3. Remove the A/C cycling switch.







4. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the suction accumulator/drier; refer to the Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect and Connect general procedure. Spring Lock Coupling Connect and Disconnect Procedure







5. Disconnect the suction accumulator/drier from the A/C evaporator core.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the fitting and the tube, use a backup wrench when removing the suction accumulator/drier.







6. Remove the clamp screw and remove the suction accumulator/drier.

INSTALLATION

















1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
^ Lubricate the A/C cycling switch O-ring seal with Motorcraft YN-12c refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the fitting and the tube, use a backup wrench when installing the suction accumulator/drier.
