TRANSMISSION - 4R44E - DELAYED OR SLIPPING 1-2 SHIFT AT LIGHT THROTTLE - 3.0L ENGINE - VEHICLES BUILT 8/1/99 THROUGH 7/31/00 - UPDATED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION

ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit a delayed or slipping 1-2 upshift during light throttle. This may be due to insufficient control pressures created by PCM calibration.

ACTION
Verify condition and tear tag information. If the calibration is incorrect the PCM will need to be Reprogrammed with a new calibration. Refer to the following Service Procedure.

Verify 1-2 delayed or slipping shifts during light throttle. Prior to performing any service procedures, verify tear tag information. Refer to chart. If the calibration is not at the latest level follow Workshop Manual procedures to reprogram PCM calibration. Verify repair, if the condition is not corrected, continue with normal diagnostics and repairs per the Workshop Manual.





Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
