Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the hood.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner.
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the A/C condenser core.
6. Remove the intake manifold.
7. Disconnect the two starter cable leads from the starter relay.
8. Disconnect the two 42-pin connectors and the single pin connector.
9. Disconnect the 16-pin connector and the single pin connector.
10. Remove the bolts and the junction block bracket.
11. Remove the heater water hose from the heater core.
12. Remove the heater water hose from the heater core.
13. Disconnect the climate control vacuum connector.
14. Remove the bolts.
- Position the power steering fluid reservoir and bracket aside.
15. Raise and support the vehicle.
16. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
17. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connection.
18. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
19. Remove the starter motor.
20. Remove the A/C compressor.
21. Remove the transmission fluid cooler hose from the block-mounted clip.
22. Remove the transmission inspection cover, torque converter bolts and transmission-to-engine block bolts.
23. Disconnect the Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) electrical connector.
24. Remove the bolts and position the power steering pump aside.
25. Disconnect the oil pressure sender electrical connection.
26. Disconnect the heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
27. Remove the RH exhaust manifold to three-way catalytic converter nuts.
28. Remove the RH exhaust manifold studs.
29. Remove the LH exhaust manifold to three-way catalytic converter nuts.
- Position the Y-pipe aside.
30. Remove the RH motor mount bolt.
31. Remove the LH motor mount bolt.
32. Remove the oil bypass filter.
33. Remove the oil pressure sensor.
34. Slide back the hose clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the oil filter adapter.
35. Slide back the hose clamps and remove the coolant lines from the oil cooler.
36. Remove the oil filter insert and remove the oil cooler.
37. Remove the heater water inlet tube and discard the O-ring seal.
38. Lower the vehicle and support the transmission.
39. Install the Engine Lift Bar.
40. Remove the engine.
41. Note: Windsor engine shown.
Note: If engine disassembly is to be carried out, remove the rear crankshaft oil seal slinger and the crankshaft rear oil seal.
Remove the flywheel.
42. Place the engine on a suitable engine stand.
