ISSUE
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0171 and/or P0174 may be stored in memory on some vehicles. This condition may occur when the vehicle is at an idle and/or neutral condition particularly at higher altitudes and while using ethanol blended fuel.

ACTION





Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new calibration. Refer to the Recalibration Chart for calibration information.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Follow diagnostic procedures in the PC/ED and the Workshop Manual. Check for correct fuel pressure. Check for induction air leaks. Check for PCV system leakage. Reprogram Powertrain Control Module (PCM).





Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
