Canister Purge Control Valve: Service and Repair

Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve

REMOVAL

NOTE: F-250 and Excursion shown, F-53 Motorhome chassis similar.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.

WARNING: THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM CONTAINS FUEL VAPOR AND CONDENSED FUEL VAPOR. ALTHOUGH NOT PRESENT IN LARGE QUANTITIES, IT STILL PRESENTS THE DANGER OF EXPLOSION OR FIRE. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FROM THE BATTERY TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ELECTRICAL SPARK OCCURRING, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF FUEL VAPOR OR LIQUID FUEL IS PRESENT.







2. Disconnect the electrical connector.







3. Remove the vacuum hose.







4. Remove the clamp and hose.







5. Remove the hose.







6. Remove the nuts.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
