Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
Auxiliary UnitREMOVAL
1. Remove the A/C evaporator core. For additional information, refer to Evaporator Core.
2. Separate the capillary bulb from the outer evaporator outlet tube.
1 Remove the A/C insulating tape.
2 Remove the clip securing the capillary bulb to the tube.
NOTE: Care must be taken not to damage the capillary bulb or tube.
3. Remove the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
1 Disconnect the refrigerant lines.
^ Disconnect the A/C liquid jumper line.
^ Disconnect the inlet line.
CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.
2 Remove the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
1 Install new green O-ring seals.
^ Lubricate with clean PAG compressor oil, YN-12c, F7AZ-19589-DA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
NOTE: The green O-ring seals cannot be seen. They are located in the connections.
2 Install the A/C evaporator expansion valve.
3 Connect the refrigerant lines.
^ Connect the A/C liquid jumper line.
^ Connect the inlet line.
2. Fasten the capillary bulb to the evaporator outlet tube.
1 Secure the bulb to the tube with clips.
2 Cover the entire bulb and the tube with A/C insulating tape D4AZ-19627-A meeting Ford specification ESA-M99G550-A.
3. Install the A/C evaporator core. For additional information, refer to Evaporator Core.
4. Evacuate and charge the system.
5. Check the system for correct operation.
