Removal

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and secure out of the way.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove upper and lower intake manifolds and rocker arm covers.
4. If LH cylinder head is being removed, perform the following steps:
a. Remove accessory drive belt.
b. Remove air conditioning compressor.
c. Remove power steering pump and bracket from the cylinder head, and position it off to one side.
d. Remove the spark plugs.
5. If RH cylinder head is being removed, perform the following steps:
a. Remove accessory drive belt.
b. Remove alternator and alternator bracket.
c. Remove Electronic Ignition (E-DIS) ignition coil and bracket assembly.
d. Remove spark plugs.
6. Remove exhaust inlet pipe and exhaust manifold(s)
7. Remove rocker arm shaft assembly. Remove the pushrods, and place them in a rack for installation in the same position.
8. Remove cylinder head attaching bolts and discard.
9. Remove cylinder head(s).
10. Remove and discard cylinder head gaskets(s).
