Drive Belt: Adjustments

Belt Adjustment And Routing:





1. Loosen alternator adjustment bolts.
2. Place an adjustable wrench on the top lug of the alternator and rotate the alternator until the proper belt tension is reached.
NOTE: Use belt tension gauge (Rotunda 021-00019 or equivalent) to measure belt tension.
3. Tighten adjustment bolt to 22-29 ft lbs (30-40 Nm).
4. Remove the adjustable wrench.
5. Tighten the pivot bolt to 40-53 ft lbs (54-71 Nm).
6. START and run the engine for five minutes, then shut OFF the engine and check belt tension.
7. If tension is not within specifications, return to step 1.
8. If belt will not hold tension, replace the belt.
