Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

OPERATION
With the Ignition Switch in "RUN", the Rear Window Defrost Switch is powered through Fuse 5.

Pressing the momentary defrost switch closes the contacts of the Rear Window Defrost Relay and starts the ten minute (approximate) timing cycle. Current now flows through Fuse Link C and the defrost relay to the Rear Window Defrost Grid.

The solid-state circuitry keeps the defrost relay coil energized. Pressing the defrost switch again deenergizes the defrost relay, removing power from the defrost circuit. If the switch is not pressed, power remains on until the time delay runs out. Then the coil deenergizes and removes power from the defrost circuit.
