Fault Code 53-Internal Diagnostic Monitor Failure

Normal Operation

The diagnostic monitor performs several self-tests every time the ignition switch is turned on. If any of these tests fail, the diagnostic monitor will flash code 53.

Possible Causes

1. Internal diagnostic monitor self-test failure.
