A4LD Malfunction Indicator Lamp Flashing, Code 124
1992-1995 Aerostars may exhibit a code 124 due to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) incorrectly calculating the vehicle's engine load under certain conditions. If a code 124 (throttle position sensor voltage higher than expected) is stored in continuous memory, and the vehicle has one of the calibration codes listed below, replacement of the PCM may be necessary. Due to other changes in the calibrations of the new PCM, the radiator cap will also need replacement. The Ford part number for the cap is F4TZ-8100-B. The new cap is rated at 16 psi rather than 13 psi (original rating).
CAUTION
The TP Sensor and its related wiring should be throughly checked before condemning the PCM.
