Valve Clearance: Adjustments

1. Position No. 1 cylinder at TDC compression stroke and check collapsed valve lifter clearance, using a suitable tappet bleed down wrench. Check the following valves:

a. No. 1 intake and exhaust.
b. No. 2 exhaust.
c. No. 3 intake.
d. No. 4 exhaust.
e. No. 6 intake.

2. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees and check the following valves:

a. No. 2 intake.
b. No. 3 exhaust.
c. No. 4 intake.
d. No. 5 intake and exhaust.
e. No. 6 exhaust.

3. Collapsed tappet gap should be 0.088 to 0.189 in. If not check pushrod, valve lifter, rocket arm, fulcrum and bolt for wear and damage and replace as necessary.
