Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge A/C system.
2. Remove air cleaner and air inlet duct.
3. Disconnect electrical hard shell connectors from blower motor, heater blower motor switch resistor and A/C cycling switch.
4. Disconnect condenser to evaporator tube from inlet tube and evaporator to compressor suction lines from suction accumulator/drier, using spring lock coupling tools. Cap all open refrigerant connections to prevent entry of dirt and moisture.
5. Disconnect A/C vacuum check valve from engine source line, then the vacuum line from vacuum control motor.
6. Remove A/C accumulator brackets holding suction accumulator/drier to A/C evaporator core and clamp from around inlet tube.
7. Disconnect suction accumulator/drier from outlet tube and remove suction accumulator/drier. Cap all open refrigerant connections to prevent entry of dirt and moisture.
8. Remove A/C blower housing to A/C evaporator case screws, then the A/C blower housing from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque A/C accumulator bracket to suction accumulator/drier clamp screws to 18 in lb.
b. Charge A/C system.
