Dear Owner:

REASON FOR Ford Motor Company is voluntarily recalling (Emissions
THIS LETTER Recall 89E82) some 1989-model F-Series trucks equipped
with certain 5.8 liter engines. Our records show that you
own one of these trucks. Your truck's engine may be
releasing air pollutants which exceed applicable standards.

WHAT YOU Please telephone a Ford dealer in your area to assure that

this recall service.

WHAT THE The dealer will replace some thermactor emissions control
DEALER system parts on the engine in your truck at no charge to you.
WILL DO This service should have little or no effect on your truck
except to reduce the air pollutants released by the emissions
control system. The time required for this service is about
one hour. Your dealer may have to keep your truck longer
because of service capacity restraints.

WHY SERVICE If you do not have this service done, your emissions
SHOULD BE warranty may be reduced. Also, your truck may not pass
DONE emissions or smog tests that may be required in your
area.

ASK YOUR When you call your dealer for this service, ask for a
DEALER computer check on the "CARES" or the "OASIS" systems to
see if your truck needs other recall work. If it does, the
dealer can tell you about the required service.

FORM Your truck's identification number is shown on the enclosed
ENCLOSED form. Please detach the postcard on the cover sheet of
the form. Complete any of the sections that may apply
to you and mail the postcard to us. Please give the rest
of the form to your dealer at the time of service. If you
lose the form, the dealer will still service your truck
at no charge to you.

ASSISTANCE If the dealer cannot answer any questions you have
regarding this recall service, you may contact the nearest
Ford Parts and Service Division District Office whose
address is shown in your Owner Guide.

We regret any problem this recall may cause you. We are doing this so
that you will be satisfied with your truck. We urge you to have your
truck serviced promptly to maintain full coverage under the emission
warranties.
