Case: Service and Repair
DISASSEMBLY
1. If required, drive two dowel pins out of the rear case.
2. Using Slide Hammer T50T-100-A or equivalent and Internal Puller D80L-943-A or equivalent, Remove mainshaft rear bearing outer race from rear case.
3. Using a suitable drift, drive mainshaft rear seal from rear case. Discard the seal.
4. Using Slide Hammer T50T-100-A or equivalent and bearing Cup Puller T77F-1102-A or equivalent, remove the countershaft rear bearing outer race from rear case.
5. If required,remove central shift rail bearing, from rear case Use blind Hole Puller D80L-100-Q and slide hammer T50T-100-A to remove the bearing.
ASSEMBLY
1. If removed, install central shift rail bearing into rear case.
2. Heat the rear case in area of the countershaft rear bearing outer race to 160°C (320°F) with Rotunda Heat Gun 107-00300 or equivalent. Install the countershaft bearing outer race with Driver Handle T80T-4000-W and Bearing Cup Replacer T73&-4222-A until it seats against its stop.
3. Heat the rear case in the area of the mainshaft outer race to 160°C (320°F) with Rotunda Heat Gun 107-00300 or equivalent. Using Driver Handle T80T-4000-W and Bearing Cup replacer T87T-7025-PH, tap the bearing cup into its bore until it seats against its stop.
NOTE: Do not install the mainshaft rear seal at this time. The mainshaft rear seal is installed just prior to installing the output flange.
4. Heat rear case in area of countershaft rear bearing outer race to 160°C (320°F) with Rotunda Heat Gun 107-00300 or equivalent.
5. Install the countershaft bearing outer race with hand driver T80T-4000-W and bearing cup replacer T73T-4222-A until it seats against its stop.
6. Heat rear case in area of mainshaft outer race to 160°C (320°F), with Rotunda Heat Gun 107-00300 or equivalent.
7. Using Driver Handle T80T-4000-W and bearing Cup replacer T87T-7025-PH, Tap the bearing cup into its bore until it seats against its stop.
NOTE: Do not install the mainshaft rear seal at this time. The mainshaft rear seal is installed just prior to installing the outer flange.
