Description of Condition and Correction

Some of the described vehicles may have been built with an incorrectly assembled wiring harness that supplies power to the electric choke. This could cause the choke to not function as required for proper fuel combustion. Vehicles experiencing this condition require modification to help assure acceptable levels of emission control. Owners may notice exhaust smoke when the engine is fully warmed up, and may also experience rough engine idle and some reduction in their vehicle's fuel economy.

Ford is recalling these vehicles to correct this condition. Correction will consist of inspecting and, if necessary, reversing two wires previously installed in reverse positions in the wiring harness connector.
