Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair

NOTE: Hub and bearing are serviced separately. The hub can be replaced without removing bearing from steering knuckle. In order to replace bearing from steering knuckle, the wheel hub must be removed as an assembly. If bearing components are worn or damaged, replace complete assembly.

REMOVAL

1. Remove hub, refer to WHEEL HUB
2. Remove bearing assembly to steering knuckle attaching bolts, then the bearing assembly.
3. If necessary, remove bearing outer race using a suitable press and puller.
NOTE: Bearing race and bearing should be replaced as a set.

INSTALLATION

1. Pack new bearing with suitable grease.
2. Install bearing race in bearing.
3. Press outer bearing race into front wheel hub.
4. Place bearing assembly in steering knuckle, then torque attaching bolt to specifications.
5. Install front wheel hub.
