REMOVAL & DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove driveshaft, refer to DRIVESHAFT.
2. Cut and remove boot clamps, then slide boot from C/V joint housing. If boot is to be reused, avoid damaging boot when cutting clamps.
3. Remove C/V joint housing by pulling it straight off the tripod.
4. Using snap ring pliers, spread plastic retaining ring (D), then tap tripod off shaft with plastic mallet.
5. Remove boot from shaft. Inspect C/V joint housing, boot, plastic retaining ring, tripod and tripod bearings. Replace worn or damaged components.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
1. Install new retaining ring by pushing non-tapered end into tripod until it snaps into groove.
2. Install boot on driveshaft.
3. Tap tripod onto driveshaft until retaining ring seats in shaft groove.
4. Lubricate C/V joint housing, tripod bearings and the interior of boot with grease supplied in service kit, then slide housing onto tripod and bearings.
5. Seat boot on housing and driveshaft, then bleed air from boot by inserting a smooth rod (T) between boot and housing.
CAUTION: Do not damage boot while purging air.
6. Using boot clamp pliers No. T.Av 1034 or equivalent, install and tighten boot clamps.
7. Install driveshaft, refer to DRIVESHAFT.
