INSTALLATION
1. Ensure valve body baffles (A) are seated as shown in Fig. 4. Use petroleum jelly to hold baffles in place if necessary.
2. Coat new valve body solenoid connector O-ring with transmission fluid, then install it on connector.
3. Raise valve body into position and install solenoid connector into transaxle case. Install valve body attaching bolts finger tight. Ensure valve body is aligned on case, then torque bolts to 46 inch lbs. in sequence as shown in Fig. 5.
4. Install caliper on manual valve, inserting metal end of caliper first. Swing shift arm over into caliper channel.
5. Install bolt attaching solenoid external wire harness connector to transaxle case, then connect wire harness connector, squeezing lock ring until it snaps into place.
6. Install screen and gasket, coating gasket with petroleum jelly. Install screen attaching bolts and torque to 46 inch lbs.
7. Clean and dry oil pan, then install new pan gasket. Do not use any type of sealer on oil pan or gasket. Ensure gasket mounting spacers are in place, then install pan and attaching bolts, torquing bolts to 90 inch lbs.
8. Install new O-ring on oil drain plug, then install plug and torque to 177 inch lbs.
9. Connect shift cable rod to shift lever.
10. Install underbody splash shield and lower vehicle. Fill transaxle with Mercon automatic transmission fluid.
