Fig. 4 Removing Jounce Bumper And Dust Boot:

CAUTION: To avoid damage to strut assembly, mount strut in strut clamping vise No. YA-457 or equivalent.
1. Align tab (R) with opening (S) on jounce bumper, then remove jounce bumper and dust boot.
2. Remove pressed-on cap. Use care to avoid damaging threads.
3. Remove 7/16 to 31/64 from top of strut body using a suitable cutting tool.
4. Remove and discard strut cartridge, then pour residual oil from strut body.
5. Remove excess metal from inside of strut tube caused by cutting operation.
6. Install new cartridge and threaded cap. Torque threaded cap to specifications.
