Rear
Fig. 1 Dual Pin Sliding Caliper Disc Brake Assembly:
1. Remove approximately 1/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder.
2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
3. Disconnect parking brake cable operating lever return spring.
4. Remove bolt attaching operating lever to caliper, then use a scribe to mark position of operating lever and remove operating lever using a suitable flat blade screwdriver.
5. Disconnect parking brake cable from mounting flange, then remove upper slide pin.
6. Loosen lower slide pin and tilt caliper downward.
7. Remove brake pad retaining pin using a suitable pin punch, then the lower slide pin and lift caliper off rotor and secure with wire.
8. Remove anti-rattle spring, then the brake pads.
9. Remove rotor retaining nuts, then the rotor.
10. Inspect parking brake operating lever return spring, brake pad retaining pin, slide pins and bushings, and replace as necessary.
11. Bottom caliper piston in its bore, then temporarily mount caliper on axle shaft. Install and tighten slide pins just enough to hold caliper in place.
12. Using a 3/8 inch drive extension, ratchet and 7/16 inch deep well socket, insert spanner 6366 or equivalent into deep well socket.
13. Insert spanner tool lugs into matching holes in caliper piston face, and rotate piston in a clockwise direction until fully seated in bore.
14. Remove caliper slide pins and caliper, then install rotor and retaining nuts.
15. Install new pads in caliper, then the caliper on rotor and axle shaft.
16. Install caliper slide pins and torque to specifications.
17. Install anti-rattle spring and ensure that spring is positioned so brake pad retaining pin will go through loops at each end of spring.
18. Insert parking brake cable in mounting flange, then position return spring on caliper and install operating lever on parking brake cable.
19. Pull parking brake lever rearward and install operating lever on caliper.
20. Connect return spring to operating lever first, then hook spring onto caliper with a long screwdriver. Rounded end of return spring attaches to operating lever and square end goes to caliper.
21. Install wheel and tire, lower vehicle, then apply brakes several times to seat pads and equalize parking brake adjustment.
