Fig. 2 Caliper Mounting Pin Locations:
REMOVAL
1. Drain and discard approximately 1/2 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
4. Using a suitable screwdriver, slightly pry piston into caliper bore.
5. Remove caliper mounting pins, then lift caliper from mounting bracket and off rotor. Suspend caliper with suitable wire to prevent damaging brake hose.
6. Remove outer brake pad first, then the inner pad, noting position of anti-rattle clips for assembly reference.
7. Wipe inside of caliper with dry, clean cloth and inspect piston bore for leakage. If leakage is present, refer to CALIPER OVERHAUL. Do not clean caliper with compressed air as damage to the dust boot may result.
Fig. 3 Anti-rattle Clip Locations:
INSTALLATION
1. Using a C-clamp, push caliper piston back until it is bottomed into cylinder bore.
2. Using a wire brush, thoroughly clean brake pad contact points on caliper mount.
3. Assemble anti-rattle clips on brake pads as shown.
4. Position inner pad on caliper mount first, then the outer pad.
5. Lower caliper over brake pads onto caliper mounting bracket, ensuring brake hose is not twisted.
6. Lubricate mounting pins with suitable grease, then install through caliper sleeves and bushings. Thread pins into mounting bracket and torque to 18 1/2 ft. lbs.
7. Install wheel and tire assembly, then lower vehicle.
8. Slowly pump brake pedal to fully seat pads, then top off brake fluid level in reservoir as necessary.
