D. Refill and Bleed Cooling

1. Make sure all coolant hose connections are secure.

2. Open the cooling system bleed screws. The screws are located in the upper radiator hose and the heater core inlet hose. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transaxle, an additional bleed screw is located in the oil cooler upper coolant hose.

3. Refill the cooling system. Do not install the coolant bottle pressure cap.

CAUTION:
Do NOT overfill the coolant bottle above the "Maximum" level.

4. Close each bleed screw when a continuous stream of coolant flows out of each screw.

CAUTION:
Do not open the bleed screws while the engine is running.

5. With the air conditioning OFF, start the engine and run it at 1500 RPM for about four (4) minutes or until the upper radiator hose is warm to the touch.

6. Turn the engine off and add coolant to the coolant bottle as necessary.

CAUTION:
Do NOT overfill the coolant bottle above the "Maximum" level.

7. Inspect the cooling system for leaks and repair as necessary.

8. Open the cooling system bleed screws.

9. Close each bleed screw when a continuous stream of coolant flows out of the screw.

CAUTION:
Do not open the bleed screws while the engine is running.

10. Install the provided coolant bottle pressure cap. Run the engine for an additional ten (10) minutes or until the engine cooling fans turn on and cycle off.

CAUTION:
Do not reuse the old coolant bottle pressure cap.

11. Turn the engine off.

12. Recheck cooling system for leaks. Check coolant level in the coolant bottle. Top off the bottle to the maximum (MAX) mark if necessary.

IMPORTANT:
It is essential that all air is bled from the cooling system to prevent the engine from overheating.
