Installation

1. To attach coil spring to strut assembly, proceed as follows:

a. Invert upper plate (F).
b. Insert bolt from adapter cup (D), through top of strut mounting plate.
c. Invert strut mounting plate on upper plate.
d. Assemble (in order) the pivot bearing and spring retainer (E) using adapter cup (D). Install nut onto adapter cup finger tight.

e. Position strut (H) into adapter plates (A) and (E). Position jounce bumper (G).
f. Place upper plate (F), with adapter cup (D) and strut components, onto lower plate (C). The upper portion of the coil spring must be rotated to fit the "stop" located on the spring retainer.

g. Using the threaded rods (G), slowly compress upper plate (F) until dimension X is 15.70 inches. Ensure upper portion of the coil spring is located in the stop on the spring retainer.
h. Remove adapter cup (D) from the strut assembly.
i. Continue to tighten threaded rods (G) until the threaded portion of the strut shaft has passed through the upper plate (F) enough to install the locknut. If difficulty is experienced in bringing the strut shaft through the strut mounting, position a suitable screwdriver into the hex hole in the top end of the shaft for alignment.
j. Install bearing and locknut.
k. Tighten lock nut, then slowly release tension from the threaded rods until all tension is relieved from the coil spring.
l. Remove upper plate (F) from strut assembly.
m. Remove strut assembly from lower plate.
2. To install coil spring/strut assembly, proceed as follows:
a. Install strut assembly in position using the three upper attaching bolts. Finger tighten bolts.
b. When installing do not damage driveshaft boot.
c. Install outer tie rod end.
d. Install lower attaching bolts.
e. Install upper attaching bolts.
f. Since the outer tie rod end is attaching to the strut body, check toe measurement if the strut has been replaced.
