Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection
The following test is performed with the engine running. Use extreme caution when working in engine compartment to avoid personal injury.
1. With engine running, disconnect each injector electrical connector one by one. A noticeable drop in engine speed should be evident when each injector is deactivated, signifying that that injector is operational.
2. If a drop in engine speed is not evident with any particular injector, switch the wire harness connector for that injector with one that is operational.
3. If engine speed now drops, the wire harness for the inoperative injector should be checked and repaired as necessary.
4. If engine speed does not drop as outlined above, the injector is defective and should be replaced.
If testing requires removal of any fuel system component, always depressurize fuel system before removal of component.
