Thermostat: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect lower radiator hose and drain coolant into suitable container.Fig. 31 Thermostat Retaining Clamps:
2. Loosen upper radiator hose clamp (A), then disconnect upper hose from engine.
3. Loosen thermostat retaining clamp (D), then remove thermostat from upper hose.

4. Install thermostat in upper hose with thermostat check ball (F) positioned at the top and valve (G) toward the housing.
5. Tighten thermostat retaining clamp, then install upper and lower hoses to engine.
6. Fill cooling system as necessary, then bleed system, refer to Cooling System/Service and Repair.
